Drawing one's self
Somehow I like poking fun at myself. I did this at the office today when I wanted to draw something different from my regular work. This really cheered me up and reminded me why I got into this gig in the first place. For fun! I laughed hard after seeing how I portrayed myself in the drawing. "My goodness! Is that what Ithought of myself?" XD It's very humbling too, if my ego bug starts kicking. ^^ I think everyone should try this lil anecdote, you might be suprised by the results. ^^ Go crazy!

G' Mornin' Everyone!
I was thinking of the upcoming 'Narnia' one day,so this lion (upper right) appeared. I drew a little mouse nearby to make it look like that ol' fable about the Lion and the Mouse.
<
I drew up a bunch of kids last Sunday while I was at my sister's house to spend time with her and my lil nephew,Adam. He's a real fan of stop-motion animation rather than the regular 2D/3d stuff. His favorites being Pingu and Thomas the Toy Engine. O.O Whooaaa, mama! He can watch them over and over again all day long till the discs are ruined. Only 2 and he knows how to operate the dvd player already. I'm a proud aunty. ^^

Whats the Scoop on Jom and Paul Robinson/David Rand
I'd like to congratulate Hadibi for getting his artwork published on the front cover of 'Jom' this month. F.Y.I. Jom is a new comic mag among many others here in Malaysia. To my eyes, it's contents are getting better and better, even the quality and style of the artworks innit are slowly but surely have been climbing steadily. Well,it's still new, so we'll have to see how it fares next year. Here's an image view of Hadibi's front cover work.
Oh YEAAAA!!! A week or 2 ago, I was informed of some art books or comic books of sorts that would be handed to me by my buddy and ex-colleague,Aliow. Little did I know that last Saturday, when we finally get to meet up over chow and more chow....that he is handing over to me these OH MY HONEST TO GOODNESS goodie bag full of old copies of Paul Robinson and David Rand books. And all still in mint condition!!! WAAAA!!!!My friend must've known my popped eyed expression, and guess, was real pleased I'm taking over ownership of these babies. Turns out, he has a friend who frequents Penang Island in search of good old second hand books there and if he should stumble on some good ones, he'd hand them over to Aliow. And since Aliow didn't want to keep 'em anymore, well then, just hand 'em over to me,babe! WWWOOOHOOO!!! I know these books are exceptionally hard to come by nowadays unless some of you guys out there can fill me in on whether any of these ever made it to republication or something. If not, then I'd appreciate it if y'all can get back to me onnit coz I'd like to share the contents of these gems with all of you viewers out there by patiently and carefully scanning them in here for all your viewing pleasure. ;) I checked the copyright thingy innit and it dates back 1963. O.O There's about 3 Paul Robinson books and 5 Dave Rand books in total, folks! So I'll be happy to keep this site busy with new updates on the books as regularly as I can put 'em in. So Lemme know, ya? Cheers Folks!

Me big bro can draw!
This, coupled further with the evening's programme of me and me bro and sis-in-law enjoying reminising on good ol' 2D animated cartoons while watching The Sword in the Stone. (a personal favorite of mine) I soaked up the evening and enjoyed every moment of it, coz this is something we hardly ever do anymore, family evening, y'know.Growing up somehow makes everyone too busy for anything else anymore. Amazing scenes by amazing animators and artists who brought it to life.
That's all for now, folks! Thanx so much for all the wonderful comments and interests in the work here. Hope I can post more soon.
Gggrrr...why does it take me two times to upload the same pic before it'll show in my Edit post?
Later!

Let's talk about payments >.<...
Recently I had one student from an art school (which I will not disclose), asked me a question about his/her fears of getting involved in projects that does not clarify the matter of payments due to the artist once he/she is done with the project. Being a student, he/she was adviced not to be so money-minded from the beginning when given the opportunity to work on any project, therefore was told that it is not wise to bring up the subject of payments before venturing into the project. Well, I say it doesn't hurt to enquire at the very start just to know where you stand. I've had many bitter experiences of being diddled by so-called clients locally or abroad that takes this sort of matter really lightly. Don't be naive enough to presume that the client will get back to you on payments if you don't bring up the matter, worse yet, never mention about payments at all at the very start during the discussions. Always agree on the fixed amount of due payments with your client before venturing into any project. Otherwise you'll end up working long hours till morning on a project that you thought your client will be grateful for,and will definitely promptly pay you when the deed is done. Extremely rare here, especially in Malaysia. Hard to find an honest pay master who's only aim is to cut expenses as much as possible. Yea yea, I'mma crabby ol' Grump (bear in mind it's you perpetrators who've made me turned to the dark side. You know who you are.) Anyways in this case, if you're a student, getting involved in various projects really helps to boost your background knowledge, giving you good working exposure etc. though the pay may be low at first. If payment is not in the cards, then at least you know from the beginning when you're enquiring and agreed to do it nontheless. Better than waiting till the end of the project and get slapped in the face, right? >.O

Good ol' British comics
Sadly I dunno any place that sells reprints of them around here, if anyone can help me locate those ol' goodies I'd really appreciate it.
Also what got me to start up this topic is because I've always been curious as to who are the real talents behind these comics as there's hardly been any mention of them except that they do make appearances now and then in the comics themselves. Does anyone have any feedback or information at all with regards to this? *.* Man, I think these guys have eluded recognition far enough and deserve the proper credits they deserve. No one produces comics like they do anymore, so this is my contribution to them, to thank them for bringing hours of giggles and smiles to my childhood days.
