What I saw this morning....

on my way to work. A fat cat staring contently at 2 'kampung' chickens on a grassy slope at an industrial area. The 2 chickens didn't seem to mind the least that the cat was in such a close proximity while they were pecking away.
Roughs sketches on those fancy writing papers the hotel provides you. I took a bunch home along with a handful of pencils during one conference hosted by the company I work for. XP

I Heart YouTube

Wowiiee! I had no idea YouTube was so well stocked! Imagine the goodies I found wheh I typed either Silly Symphonies and Merry Melodies in? Silly Symphonies was quite limited but I aim to find more burried treasure. Hehehe, the Brewmeisters found a lot already from the looks of things. Check out their site if u miss any goodies out there...http://www.cartoonbrew.com/ They found The Monk and the Fish and Dixieland Droopy,2 shows I was dying to watch but couldn't get my hands on. Thank you,Cartoon Brew! I grew up with Dixieland Droopy but regretfully almost all my old vids didn't survive the passage of time. So good to be trotting back thru' memory lane.
Among some of the goodies in Silly Symphonies is Egyptian Melodies 1931,to my mind, must be the first attempt at virtual reality or something(Lemme know if I'm wrong),and below,The Skeleton Dance and The Ugly Duckling which I didn't check out coz I must've seen like hundreds of time already when I was growing up.

I had more finds in the Merry Melodies section with,Ooooo, first things first,my favorite,Fedd the Kitty,Fresh Hare 1942,Injun Trouble starring Cool Cat 1969(last real WB animation?),Jungle Jitter (sensored for being politically incorrect), All this and Rabbit Stew,Hare-um-Scare-um 1939, Daffy Doc 1938,Falling Hare,Cheese Chasers,Hyde and go Tweet and lots more. Check out the 2 images from Feed the Kitty....good ol YouTube is a jackpot for animation references, inspirations, memories etc. all jammed up in their site. I highly recommend a whole days, weeks, months perusing their gold tuckshop. No regrets! ;)

Yes, I'm very very shameless...

YEEEE!I feel like a proud Mamma...Saladin made an unexpected appearance (for my case anyways) in front of our paper's InTech section last last Tuesday. I thought I was busted for coming in late to office that day when all my colleagues heads turned to my direction when I entered the door...thankfully it proved to be a diff case. Whew! Gotta catch the morning papers in the future. WOO! Saladin is looking up what with our new website up n running (http://www.saladin.tv/main.php) and with it's recent win for Best Tech at SICAF for the SPP category last month. Hope the good streaks will continue till the end of production and distribution of the products. *_*

Also, my group MnU's lil animation is finally going again with last night's meeting to finally nail the score in preparations for the coming animation slog soon. We've completed the storyboards, with model sheets, mood boards/color keys, animatics etc. still to finish. *.*Gaaaaa....
View our group's progress here if you're too lazy to go thru my links on the right side of the screen. XD http://mars-and-uranus.deviantart.com/

The FEI World Cup

What a great opportunity to study such magnificent beasts close up. I must thank my twin,Debs, first for winning those 2 free tickets in order to see the show. Thanx Debra! These shots were taken last month on the 27th and BOY! was that really a great event. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire competition that night from start to finish eventho' I did feel like a riffraff among the majority of high profiles and even the horses up me a hundred notches being more valuable n all that. I did wanted to get more drawings in but was distracted from the fact that most of my time spent there in the front ,just behind the railings that seperate us from the main arena, was about studying and observing the movement and reacts of the horses with the riders. This sketch was done some time ago but I thought it'd be nice to it here.

Annddd, blogger is acting up again.I tried checking my java scripting n cookies but it didn't work.Has anyone else had the problem? Grrrrr, hate this! I can't seem to upload more pics in here, even if I upload them in a new post. >.< More pics to cmoe when this is solved folks!

Finalllyyyyy....

Yes!Finally managed to get the photos from my recent trip to Penang(last month to be exact) with my mum uploaded in my Flickr site. Ain't the image above, beautiful? First things first when I hit Penang soil, apart from visitting the ol' folks first,is to sink my teeth into those delectable Char Koay Teows. Jennifer,if you're reading this, here's a quick link to the site.http://www.flickr.com/photos/81755819@N00/
Tho eating was mostly the order of the day thru'out the short trip, I did manage to get a lil sketching done.

Isn't she cute?
Whillleee I'm at it,I might as well update the rest of the stuff now....

Here's a sketch I did of Terry Thoren (CEP of Thoren Entertainment) when he came to visit for a talk on 'How to Successfully Develop Original Animation IP' last Thursday. It sure was a good one too,and my only wish was that there were more corporate Big Wigs present at the talk instead of it being 100% artists. Talks like that would really bridge the comprehensive gap between the corporate side and the creative side in animation. I also regretted not purchasing a digicam earlier so I can take some neat pics of the event....oh well.....I'll just have to wait till my colleague upload those photo into our studio's server.
Dash it...blogger seems to be acting up again...and I've been twarth from uploading more images. Next time then, folks!I better save this while the going gets good.Cheers!

My Little Black Book

Welcome and have a lil peek inside my little black sketch book I carry around with me. I sketch whenever I can.
These animal sketches were done one day when our company had a talk held at the KLCC Aquaria. We were given the privilege of a full day's free pass,so I took advantage of it naturally. ^^ So far,the best nature exhibit I've been to or seen here in M'sia. Definitely worth a second trip next round.

Beard Papa Mania

Hahahaha, apparently I wasn't the only one in love with Beard Papa. How ironic to've seen Kazu's new blog update today.http://www.boltcity.com/ I fell in love with those delectable babies the moment I sinked my teeth into one of them not too long ago. And since then, I've made it a point not to leave The MidValley Mall without having at least one or 2 of those babies. MMMmmmmm....whoaaa,I can still taste it now. See? Even the little product stickers have the cute lil Beard Papa logo innit.

Saladin Launch

Sorry folks fore being tardy on my blog update on this...Blogger just wasn't cooperating with me last night. HEhehehe, sorry about that Acom! XD Well, here is the link to the teaser that's been launched officially last Friday by our Prime Minister himself, Pak Lah. http://www.saladin.tv/
The scene that you are about to see was taken from the old script meant for a feature production, but has since been changed to be made into a 13 episode tv series. You can clearly see how much the designs from the teaser to the buntings below differ from each other. Much has been altered to the look and mood of the cartoon since last year as this new version is aimed gnerally at the younger generation and more family orientated audience.
The new designs for the main cast for the animated tv series above. From left to right: Tarik (Saladin's best friend and closest comrade in all of his adventures), our hero Saladin, Anisa (Sal's love interest) and Duncan (ex-Frankish knight disillusioned by the realities of the Crusades, now joins Saladin in many of his adventures).
This first 13 episode series takes place during Sal's teenage years, as we follow Sal thru' his many adventures around the time of the Crusades before he became the legend that he is known today.
Gotcha! Hahaha, gotta love a politician with a sense of humor. Our PM actually reacted as tho' he has been shot when I took this pic of him when I was ahead of the press photographers in the red carpet aisle leading towards the main auditorium. "PAM!" he exclaimed. The Saladin launch coincides with our company's 10th anniversary with the unveiling of our company's new logo there. U can see this pic above of our PM being given a limited edition copy of the Saladin artbook made specially for that occassion. Below, after all the formalities are done,it's time for the screening of the 'Saladin' teaser.
Hope y'all enjoy viewing the teaser. Mind you, all this is still at the experimental stages, and we've still a lot of grounding to cover...from the character animation, voice recording, editing etc. However, this is the first time our govt is supporting our creative industry by funding this project as we all work together to see this project thru'...and from the looks of it, things are finally taking shape and moving along.
And the whole look of the cartoon had to be done in 3D as we're sorely lacking in 2D animation skills here in Malaysia. Plus the fact of the time and budget constaints and quality control/consistency issues, this project for now, couldn't be achieved any other way.
'Nuff said, and we've still a long way to go....but this is a start. The pilot episode is slated for completion by the end of this year,so hopefully....we'll see how things go.

Cheers everyone!

How COOL is that!

Our work finally wraps up for the official launch of the 'Saladin' animated project today, now back to more serious work. I got a lot of model sheets and designs to finish for it(IN ONE WEEKS TIME?!?!?!?!*.*),and if there's seconds to spare, get the color references done for each of the characters involved per episode. And got interviewed by Media Corp's Channel News Asia on my role in the project. Pity I didn't get to catch it live on tv, tho' my cousin from Singapore did and she called me about it soon after. Apparently my interview appeared right after our PM's speech with clips of the animated teaser in between during the news. Cooollllness! Some photo goodie to come as soon as I get the roles washed...yep,I still use the normal SLR cameras. XP Call me ancient, call me fossil...I still luv 'em. Images of the cartoon coming up soon, wait for it! ;)

More Sketches...

Old girl drawing,I didn't know what to do with it. Have fun viewing the rest, folks! ;)
Man, I love drawing this monkey. :D
Hehehehe, had fun coming up with this baby sketch. ^^
Was a bit more hardworking and gave it a bit of color.
